Greetings from the President of the Society

Welcome to the Korean Society for Skin Barrier Research!
The Korean Society for Skin Barrier Research was established in 1995 to study the stratum corneum, skin lipids and biology, as well as skin permeation of substances in depth.

Our Society has grown over the past 20 years thanks to the dedication of our founding members and seniors and also the continuous support from our members who are devoted to skin barrier research.
Our society started out with dermatologists interested in skin barrier function, but now it has developed into a fusion society in which researchers from diverse fields such as biology, pharmacology and cosmetology participate.

Recently, the field of skin barrier is making rapid progress thanks to the breakthrough of physicochemical, biological, and molecular genetic research methods, and as a result, we have expanded our understanding on the various factors important for skin barrier establishment and damage. Through our understanding of skin barriers, we provide basic knowledge essential for the identification and treatment of skin diseases. In addition, the knowledge is widely applied in the pharmaceutical (development of transdermal drug formulation and permeation enhancement method) and cosmetics industry.

Accordingly, the Korean Society of Skin Barrier Research is constantly striving to create a foundation for sharing and discussing up-to-date knowledge by gathering experts from various fields who are engaged in basic research and clinical application of the skin barrier.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of you who have devoted yourselves to research and have always loved our society. I would like to ask for your continuous interest and encouragement to the Korean Skin Barrier Society. Thank you.
